European Order of Merit

Robert Karlsson has moved into the top spot in the race to win the European Order of Merit after claiming victory at the Dunhill Links Championship yesterday. The Swede won his second European Tour event in succession after beating Martin Kaymer and Ross Fisher on the first hole of a three-way play-off at St Andrew’s.

The victory leaves him more than ?140,000 ahead of Ireland’s Padraig Harrington in the Order of Merit with just four tournaments remaining this season. Lee Westwood lies third on ?2,189,720 with a trio of Ryder Cup team mates behind him, Spain’s Miguel Angel Jimenez with ?1,990,609, Sweden’s Henrik Stenson is fifth with ?1,773,617; and Northern Ireland’s Graeme McDowell sixth with ?1,741,146.
