Wallace Booth, Callum MacAulay and Gavin Dear secured the World Amateur Team Championship with a nine-stroke win over the United States and in doing so completed a historic double.
Scotland, who are already holders of the World Cup with Colin Montgomerie and Marc Warren securing the nations first victory in the competition in November last year can now claim to hold both the professional and amateur titles.
?It is history in the making for a small nation as the home of golf,? said Scotland captain George Crawford. “The way golf has developed on the continent means it’s much more difficult to compete at this level. It’s a historic occasion. It’s tremendous.”
Scotland finished 20-under-par for 72 holes with the US second on 11 under and Sweden third on 6 under.
