Monty blows his top in Seville!

Colin Montgomerie has never been one to hold onto his anger, and the European Ryder Cup captain let loose once more following an incident at the end of his Spanish Open first round.
Mongomerie is seeking a first Tour victory on the European Tour since his last win in the 2007 European Open and the Scot had put together a solid opening effort in his opening round. Faced with a birdie putt on the last hole to finish up just four shots off the lead, Monty however ended up three-putting for a bogey, after a nearby tent began playing loud disco music.
“Is this a ****ing party or a golf tournament?,” Monty raged after he had signed for a one-under-par 71 which left him six strokes behind the early tournament leader Ricardo Gonzalez of Argentina.
Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano, a possible candidate for Montgomerie’s Ryder Cup squad played alongside the Scot and lent his support to Mongomerie after the incident, but on the course the Spaniard could only muster a 73. It could have been a lot worse, however, after the Spaniard carded four birdies in his last five holes.
An opening round of 65 gave Argentinian player Gonzalez the early lead, with Englands Paul Waring a stroke behind following a round of 66.
With play still continuing, much of the field is still on the course.

This week’s European Tour event comes from Seville and the Open de Espana is in the spotlight as the Tour returns to mainland Europe. The tournament will be played over the Real Club de Golf de Sevilla, and the Andalucian venue has already hosted the event in 2008, as well as last year’s Andalucian Open and the World Cup of Golf.
R&A make Road Hole even more dangerous!

Perhaps the most famous – and some might say the toughest – hole in golf, the St. Andrews Road Hole has been given added bite by event organisers ahead of this year’s Open Championship.
Not that the hole wasn’t difficult before, but improved club technology throughout recent years has seen the infamous hole reduced to little more than a drive and a flick for the longest hitters and the impression has been that the hole no longer posed the same menace as before.
