Helping our Heroes

The Belfry will forever be associated with our Ryder Cup heroes, so it was fitting that Your Golf Travel.com was at the legendary Midlands venue to celebrate its sponsorship of the 2010 National Golf Club Challenge, organised in aid of the charity, Help for Heroes.

Sam Torrance (far left), a patron of the National Golf Club Challenge and who enjoyed some of his greatest Ryder Cup moments at The Belfry, both as a player and as team Captain, was present to help toast Your Golf Travel.com’s sponsorship, along with representatives and supporters of the Challenge and the Help For Heroes charity. “We’re incredibly proud to be associated with the National Golf Club Challenge and its fund raising for Help For Heroes,” said Your Golf Travel.com’s managing director Andrew Harding (fourth from left). “It’s providing much needed funds for our wounded soldiers returning from Afghanistan and Iraq and I can think of no better cause to get behind.”

“Hopefully this Challenge will make us all stop and think about the dedication and selflessness of our servicemen and women and the job they do day in, day out,” added Torrance.

The Belfry will be hosting the final of the National Golf Club Challenge on October 11-12, but before that hundreds of golf clubs around the UK will be bringing thousands of golfers together to host their own fundraising stableford competition on the 24th or 25th July 2010. Each club will be required to return their top 10 stableford scores and the top-six teams will be invited to compete in the final in October.

Top charity and top event. Best of luck with it and hope it raises lots of money for a worthwhile cause.
