3 Irish Open Betting Preview
July 29, 2010 by Brian · Leave a Comment
The European Tour has left Scandinavia and its next stop on the long road to Dubai is the Emerald Isle, and in particular Killarney for the 3 Irish Open, won last year by amateur-turned-pro Shane Lowry.
The Irish Open switches venue each year, and this year it’s the turn of Killarney Golf and Fishing Club and the Killeen Course – a tree-lined course with more than its fair share of water hazards. The rough around the course shouldn’t be quite so penal due to a dry summer, but the tournament often sees strong winds and rain at some point during proceedings so the draw could be important if bad weather does arrive.
Could this be the new Tiger Woods?

Bobby Wyatt isn’t a name you’re likely to be familiar with but the American golfer is in line for a world record after carding an amazing 14-under par round of 57 at the Country Club of Mobile, Alabama.
But what makes this score all the more remarkable is that Bobby is a teenager at just 17-years old. Wyatt is a graduate of UMS-Wright in Alabama and his score came in the second round of the 65th Boy’s State Junior Championship.

Just got back from Wyboston Lakes so thought we’d send on our feedback. This was our first golf trip away and the guys at Your Golf Travel were superb, they were exceptionally friendly, not pushy and were keen to make sure we got what we wanted.
Wyboston Lakes was very easy to find and was set in a very beautiful location with lots of lakes surrounding it. The course looks very tricky and tight according to their pictures Read more
Swedish home win as Johnson wins Nordea Scandinavian Masters
July 27, 2010 by Brian · Leave a Comment
Sweden’s Richard S Johnson sank a 30 foot birdie putt on the last green to become only the second home player in 12 years to win the Nordea Scandinavian Masters at Bro Hof Slot Golf Club, near Stockholm.
Johnson’s birdie ended the challenge of Argentina’s Rafa Echineque – the 29 year old looking to claim a first European Tour win – who had seemingly done enough to force a playoff after finishing at 10-under par.
Johnson’s approach to the 18th landed some way from the pin and a two-putt finish and a playoff appeared the likeliest outcome but Johnson, who plys most of his trade on the PGA Tour and was without a top-30 finish since February, had other ideas and showed no signs of the putting problems that have dogged his career by rolling the putt into the centre of the hole and give him his second Tour victory, eight years after his last win.
Johnson, whose regular caddie Lance Ten Broeck was competing in The Senior British Open Championship at Carnoustie instead, earned €333,330 after his closing round of 71 gave him an 11 under par total of 277 and a one-shot victory.
A 20-foot putt on the last gave Italian player Edoardo Molinari third place, while Open champion Louis Oosthuizen could only muster a final round 73 to tie for fourth place with Australian Brett Rumford and New Zealand’s Mark Brown.
Molinari needed a runners-up finish to force himself into the automatic picks for the upcoming Ryder Cup match at The Celtic Manor in October, but missed several putts along the way.
Korean KJ Choi had led into the final round, but set the tone for his round as early as his opening drive, which he hooked out-of-bounds en-route to a double bogey seven. He then later sent two golf balls into a watery grave at the 15h hole for a calamitous nine, before eventually signing for a 78
Wilson leads in Canada but Clark ready to pounce!
July 25, 2010 by Brian · Leave a Comment
Dean Wilson has opened up a four shot lead over the chasing pack after the third round of the RBC Canadian Open following a third successive round of 65. Wilson leads Sweden’s Carl Petterson – who shot a 60 – along with American Bob Estes and Players Championship winner Tim Clark, who are tied together on 11-under par.
Wilson, who is playing on a sponsors exemption, last won the PGA Tour in 2006 when he won The International Tournament in Denver, Colorado but has struggled since. He made his move midway through his round as rain swept in to make three consecutive birdies around the turn to before birdies on the 15th and 18th holes – split by a bogey on the 16th – opened the four shot gap.
Petterson’s round of 60 came ahead of the rain, and in calm, dry conditions the Swede went close to emulating Paul Goydos at the recent John Deere by breaking the magical 60 mark. After narrowly escaping the cut, Petterson – playing in the third group of the day – carded two eagles, seven birdies and a solitary bogey.
Pettersson broke the tournament record of 62 set by Leonard Thompson in 1981 at Glen Abbey and matched by five others, including Brent Delahoussaye on Thursday and Kevin Sutherland on Friday. Pettersson also tied the tournament record for relation to par of 10 under set by Greg Norman in 1986 when Glen Abbey played to a par of 72.
Sutherland forms part of a quartet of players on 10-under par, which includes Bryce Molder, Trevor Immelman and Brock Mackenzie.
England’s Luke Donald moved into a tie for 10th place after a round of 67 to join a group of 9 on the 8-under par mark. The group includes two tipster selections in Hunter Mahan and Brendon De Jonge, as well as Chris DiMarco and Kevin Na. Both Mahan and De Jonge could have been a lot closer to the lead but for costly bogeys late in their rounds.
