How did we do? February Betting Review
February 28, 2011 by Brian · Leave a Comment
After turning a level-stakes profit of £31 in January from our betting tips, the YourGolfTravel tipster was keen to continue the profit trend into February.
It didn’t look good for much of the month, however, and it looked likely that that £31 profit would be wiped out following a string of poor finishes by the tipster’s selections. That is until Luke Donald popped up to win the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship.
Wagner takes Mayakoba Golf Classic title in play-off
February 28, 2011 by Brian · Leave a Comment
Johnson Wagner captured his second PGA Tour title at the Mayakoba Golf Classic on Sunday, beating Spencer Levin at the first extra hole.
Wagner, whose only other win came at the 2008 Shell Houston Open made par on the 73rd hole to see off the challenge of Levin, after the pair had finished regulation holes tied on 17-under par 267 at the Greg Norman-designed El Camaleon golf course.
Champions Tour player John Cook shot a final round 66 to finish third at 14 under, a full three shots behind the leading duo.
Wagner, starting the day as leader on 14-under par, held steady and added to his score with birdies on the 7th, 8th, 11th and 13th holes for a closing 67, but was pegged back by Levin’s final round of 65.
Levin had made up the deficit on Wagner early, with a host of birdies on the front nine holes; recording gains on the 1st, 2nd, 5th, 7th and 8th holes to reach the turn in 31 strokes. He gave a shot back with a bogey at the 12th, but recovered quickly to regain the dropped shot with a birdie on the 13th hole, before another gain at the 17th.
It proved not to be enough for Levin, however, who has yet to win on the PGA Tour as Wagner collected the first prize purse of $666,000.
Chris Stroud, who had started the day one shot behind Wagner, could only manage a round of 70 to drop to fourth place on 13-under par, while tipster selections Brian Gay and David Toms claimed a share of 5th spot alongside Rory Sabbatini, Briny Baird, Bobby Gates and Jarrod Lyle.

La Finca Golf Review

We’ve just returned from our golf holiday to La Finca. Please find enclosed our feedback / review of it. La Finca is adjacent to the hotel. There is a nice pro shop and bar/restaurant. The course is fairly open with, generally, quite generous fairways. There is a bit of water on the course and a few ditches which, if you do not know the course, can surprise you as they are hidden from the tee. Out of the 3 courses this one offers the least shelter from wind. On each occasion we’ve played this course it was busy so a round, with buggy, was a rather Read more
