Former world number one Tiger Woods has launched his own iPhone app to help players analyse and refine their golf swing. Entitled “Tiger Woods: My Swing”, it is available through the Apple App store for $9.99.
The app, developed by Shootzoom, works by allowing golfers to video their own swing and then contrast and compare their swing with Tiger’s, pinpointing issues where the golfer is going wrong through swing line analysis of the captured footage.
The app also allows golfers to compare their swing with other friends, or their own previous swings; and so by reviewing past footage or comparing your swing to a friend’s, you can discover the cause of why you’ve suddenly began to hook the ball.
The app links with Shotzoom’s Golfshot community, which currently has in excess of half-a-million active members using its Golfshot: Golf GPS app.
Features of Tiger Woods: My Swing include:
• Enhanced video capture
• Side-by-side swing comparison with Tiger Woods
• Advanced golf swing analysis and how-to demonstrated by Woods
• Ability to see progress over time
• Sharing and feedback tools tied to friends and community members
• Exclusive updates from Woods
• Available in 12 languages
Launched on Wednesday, Woods spoke of the app at a press conference ahead of his appearance at this week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill, Florida.
“It’s a way for everyone … to use the same technology that I use on a daily basis,” Woods said. “This is what I do. I take a video of my swing. There’s no reason why anyone else can’t.”
Proceeds for the app don’t go towards Tiger’s alimony payments, however; instead they are being donated to the Tiger Woods Foundation.
Given that Tiger isn’t exactly setting the heather on fire with his golf swing currently, would you fork out $9.99 for the app? Especially when Kevin Streelman’s swing analysis app is available for just $5.
Have you tried Tiger’s app yet? What do you think of it? Let us know in the comments…
