Now that we are back in Andorra following our golf break in Turkey, I thought I would send some feedback.
We stayed in the Papillon Ayscha Hotel, which was one of a series of beachfront hotels. It was very comfortable and well equipped. There was some confusion when the Group checked in as some of the allocated rooms seemed not to be available. However the Guest Relations Manager was extremely helpful and sorted the problem then and there. The service throughout the hotel including in the lounges and terraces was also excellent and there was a really relaxing atmosphere. Our only gripe concerns the so-called ‘sea view rooms’, which actually provided views of other hotel buildings…the sea could only really be glimpsed from the balconies. As I say, this was the only fault we could find!
The catering in the main buffet restaurant was excellent with the menu changing daily both for breakfast and dinner. However the restaurant closes at 9.30pm sharp which caused problems for us when we had afternoon tee times. The quality of the food in the restaurants we visited (sea food, Oriental and Italian) was excellent, but reports of the Turkish food were less favourable…Maybe that was down to traditional tastes though! Unfortunately the service and organisation in the restaurants did not match the quality of the food but that is not to say it was bad!
All the pre-planned arrangements for transfers to and from the airport and to and from the 3 golf courses we had chosen to play went very smoothly.
All of the golf courses that featured on our golf holiday in Turkey were excellent. The Montgomerie was outstanding. The mixture of holes Monty has come up with provide an interesting test and while it is a tough course, the different tee positions make it accessible to most golfers.
The Tat International course was also good. The surrounding Taurus Mountains were amazing and made the walk around the course thoroughly enjoyable.
We played the Sueno Dunes Course, which is the shorter of the two courses at Sueno Golf Resort. This course was perfectly maintained and was a challenge…but was not too difficult. We would thoroughly recommend this course for elderly players. The closing hole on the Dunes Course will always be remembered by everyone in my group. What a finish! After playing the Dunes course you will feel no need to visit a beach thanks to the enormous bunkers that provide the courses main defence.
Carya Golf club‘s course seemed quite unique to Belek. It came as quite a surprise to us to find heather all over the course. This reminded us of heathland golf courses in Scotland. Combining this feature with the indigenous pines and eucalyptus trees created an amazing course. From the back tees this course would have been far too long but there were plenty of tees positions which cater for less talented players!
I would recommend any and all of these courses for your next Golf Holiday in Turkey.
