The Hotchkin Course at Woodhall Spa has been ranked the 25th best golf course in the world by an authoritative new survey. Golf World’s official biennial ranking places the prestigious English golf course among some of the games more famous names including Pebble Beach, Augusta National and Pine Valley. Other UK golf courses that made the list include the St Andrews Old Course, Royal County Down and Royal Birkdale.
The Hotchkin Course has a rather unique feel to it and a round of golf here is a real delight. Tucked away in a natural heathland setting, the Hotchkin features dramatic, cavernous bunkers that are strategically positioned to provide defence to the perfect putting surfaces in particular. The fairways have been masterfully plotted through trees and over heather by Harry Vardon and Harry S. Colt. Each hole travels in a different direction to the last and every shot has to be carefully considered.
There are more than 30,000 golf courses worldwide with spectacular new venues opening every year, making the Hotchkin’s achievement all the more impressive.
While the Hotchkin Course may be more than a century old, Woodhall Spa, which also features the popular Bracken Course, remains at the cutting edge of golf and has recently opened The National Golf Centre Academy to the public.
State-of-the-art facilities include a short-game practice area widely regarded as the best in Europe and now the public can head to Woodhall Spa to put the finishing touches on their game. If it’s good enough for Luke Donald then it’s good enough for the rest of us!
With everything on offer at Woodhall Spa including the current 25th best golf course in the world a Woodhall Spa golf break should be top of the list for any discerning golfer in the UK.
