In 2005 Ross Marshall and Andrew Harding maxed out their credit cards to fund the start up of golf travel operator YourGolfTravel.com. Today the duo have been nominated for the prestigious Ernst & Young 2012 Entrepreneur of the Year Award. The award recognizes innovation and success, which has certainly been the driving force for Marshall and Harding, who saw company revenue soar to £35m in 2011, and who have grown from an initial team of three to over a hundred employees today. The company’s outstanding year on year fiscal growth is a testament to their strong leadership and application since they launched the business.
The pair, who started the brand based on their own sporting passions, were delighted at the news and continue their dedication to the company mission of providing low-cost golf breaks and holidays at championship courses in the UK and abroad with a great customer service focus, for which they have been repeatedly recognised in The Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100.
Ross and Andrew recently ran the London Marathon in an effort to raise money for the Seve Ballesteros Foundation and Cancer Research UK.
Marshall said: “In testing times, this is a fantastic effort by all our team. We have now firmly established the business as Europe’s largest golf travel retailer and our group brands have also grown significantly and trade with distinction.”
Playing an active part in the game’s wider community, the pioneering duo also work in partnership with a number of charitable organisations and were proud to recently announce YourGolfTravel.com’s campaign to raise funds and awareness for The Seve Ballesteros Foundation, part of Cancer Research UK, which has already seen them both take part in the 2012 London Marathon before the launch of Seve Day in July this year. They are targeting to raise over £1 million to fight brain cancer.
