The inauguration of the Turkish Golf Federation only took place in 1996 yet golf has grown rapidly, as there are now over 30 well established golf courses with 1,500 affiliated club members spread throughout the country, which just goes to show how popular the sport has become amongst locals and those golfers from the UK who are seeking a terrific golf break in the sun.
There is some truly magnificent golf to be played in Turkey, and perhaps I would even go as far as to say that Turkey has some of the finest courses in the Mediterranean. And speaking of magnificent golf The Sueno Golf Resort is able to boast two of the highest quality tracks in the country. Located just half and hour’s drive east of the city of Antalya (just outside Belek, and a few minutes from the coast bordering the Mediterranean Sea) The Sueno Resort is ideally placed for a golfing hot-spot.
There are two fabulous 18-hole courses at Sueno Golf Resort (both opening for play in October 2007) one is named Pines and the other as Dunes. They are laid out over approximately 1500 hectares of land and were sculpted under the supervision of PGA Design Consulting who have an extensive portfolio of wonderful golf courses throughout the world.
The Pines Course is the focal golfing feature at the Sueno complex, measuring over 7,000 yards from the back tees. And, as the name would suggest, there are plenty of pine trees scattered throughout, but strategically placed bunkers and an abundance of water hazards mean that the trees aren’t the only obstacle you’ll need to avoid!
The course opens with a par-5, which is appropriately named “The Big Easy” as its generous fairway allows players to get into their stride before tackling the rest of the hole. “Up and Over” is the short par-4 second and it requires thoughtful club selection from the tee to get as close as possible to the lakes in order to leave a short second to a seriously undulating putting surface.
The Pines is consistently ranked highly among the best courses in Belek and it’s a true test of championship golf. The course designer has added many of the rugged features that derive from links golf, which makes the Pines a tough challenge that is also easy on the eye.

The Pines Course offers a spectacular round of golf which is as challenging as it is beautiful
The second course at Sueno is the Dunes – a course which is suitable for golfers of all standard, providing a somewhat more relaxing golf experience than its bigger brother. However it’s certainly no pushover stretching to an excess of 6,500 yards from the back pegs and scattered with hazards just like the Pines. The links characteristics are also apparent on the Dunes, with its vast bunkers and links-style shaping the theme for the course. The last hole on the Dunes’ is certain to be a memorable one! You hit your approach to a remarkable island green (reminiscent to that of the famous 17th at TPC Sawgrass).
The two superb courses are enhanced by the quality accommodation which the five star Sueno Hotel is able to provide. It offers a total of 174 guest rooms, all of which are superbly equipped and supply stunning views out over the two immaculate golf courses. Golfers who decide to choose Sueno Resort as the destination for their next golf holiday are not only treated to a fine selection of championship golf, but are also subject to quality accommodation and an excellent selection of eating and drinking options. All inclusive golf holidays to Sueno Golf Resort start from just £385, including 5 nights accommodation and 3 rounds of superb golf on either the Pines of the Dunes!

The Sueno Hotel is wedged right in the middle of the fantastic Pines and Dunes golf courses!
