The second major of the year is just two days away and we are all busy debating who we think will win the US Open at the challenging Chambers Bay course.
Rory McIlroy remains favourite for his second US Open title, whilst Masters champions Jordan Spieth is understandably in the running to make it two out of two. Chambers Bay plays very long measuring at a massive 7,742 yards so with that in mind, the team at Your Golf Travel provide their expert tips into who they think will win in Washington.
Oliver Gunning, YGT Marketing goes for Rickie Fowler (22/1)
I really like the way that Rickie plays the game, he strikes it fantastically and looks very comfortable shaping shots round the course. Whilst I don’t know a lot about Chambers Bay it does look quite linksy, Rickie has already done well in The Open so hope this will play into his hands. His form this year has been pretty good, culminating in his victory at THE PLAYERS. It’ll be a big ask for him to win but hopefully the layout, home support and a Top 10 in 2013 and a Tie for 2nd in 2014 will Roar Rickie to victory.
Aaron Taylor, E-Commerce manager goes for Big Phil top 5 finish (4/1)
Although age may be starting to get the better of him over 4 rounds, big Phil is a US Open specialist and this course will require experience and some creative shot making to conjure up those crucial par saves. With Phil now only targeting the majors he provides superb value if you can get him anywhere around 20-1+ for the win and 5-1 for top 5.
Ian Purvis, YGT Sales, goes for Hideki Matsuyama (28/1)
Plays with no fear and is seriously dangerous when he is on his game. Been in good form so far this year and is becoming one of the most solid players in the top 15 in the world. With Rory stuttering his way into the event it opens the door big time for the rest of the guys.
