If you knew nothing about Whistling Straits, you’d be forgiven for thinking that the golf courses here had been shaped my Mother Nature herself and had been here for decades. The reality though is that Whistling Straits is the realisation of the dream of one man – Herb Kohler – who, having made his fortune manufacturing and selling bathroom suites throughout the United States, decided to plough considerable amounts of his more than considerable financial reserves into his true passion; golf.

The result is one of the world’s best golf resorts, boasting two breathtaking links courses; The Irish and, of course, the famed Pete Dye designed Straits Course which has hosted the PGA Championship on three separate occasions, most recently in 2015 where Jason Day finished at -20, a new record for scoring in relation to par in a major championship. Having repeatedly proved itself as a bona fida tournament host, Whistling Straits joined the ranks of Ryder Cup courses in hosting the event in 2021. The course certainly left it's mark with incredible risk and reward shots which resulted in some superb golf being played throughout the 3 days. Team USA prevailed with a record 19-9 victory over Team Europe.
