Your Golf Travel ambassador Lee Westwood made the once-in-a-lifetime competition prize even better by scoring a hole-in-one during the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth in the Pro-Am. Westwood went onto congratulate his new bagman, Royston, and tell his current caddy of over a decade, Billy Foster, to enjoy his retirement!
Westwood, who was playing with former England football stars Alan Shearer and Ian Wright as well as musician Ronan Keating, celebrated the feat, by handing the ball, which he later signed, to a young fan, much to the delight of the crowd. Westwood went onto comment that he was “happy to do it. Could be a future tour player there”.
The 16th ace of Westwood’s golfing career propelled the Pro-Am team up the leaderboard in an event that saw celebrities and sporting greats combine for what is one of the most popular days on The European Tour’s schedule. Reported numbers were that over 16,000 headed into Wentworth to enjoy a fantastic day of golf in the Surrey sun.
