The world is in shock and amazement as Tiger Woods, former world number 1 & golfing god, returned to the winning circle after a two-year absence. Needless to say Eldrick took top billing across the sporting headlines despite a relative lack of importance to his win. Messers McIlroy & Westwood triumphed in their respective events in Hong Kong and South Africa which not only had an effect on the Race to Dubai as World Number 2 McIlroy seeks to reign in World Number 1 and USPGA Tour money list winner Luke Donald but also on his world ranking with Westwood trail blazing in Sun City. Golf Guide to Abu Dhabi & Dubai – It’s hotting up in the Gulf
It’s just been announced that three reigning Major winners and the four most recent World Number Ones will form the strongest-ever field for the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship at Abu Dhabi Golf Club from January 26-29 2012. Battling it out for the European PGA Tour-sanctioned event’s US$2.7 million prize fund will be Charl Schwartzel (US Masters champion), Rory McIlroy (US Open) and Darren Clarke (Open Championship). And they’ll be joined in Abu Dhabi by Luke Donald, the current world number one, and three other players that have reached that summit; Martin Kaymer, the defending champion and three-time Falcon trophy winner, England’s Lee Westwood, and Tiger Woods.
