The greatest ‘crazy golf’ shot ever?

January 24, 2011 by · 1 Comment

Everyone loves crazy golf. It is one of those ‘must do’ activities whenever there’s a family getaway and the resort has a crazy golf course, and anyone who has ever played crazy golf has a story to tell about an amazing shot around any number of obstacles enroute to a hole-in-one.

But those stories might be hard-pressed to beat the tale of one man’s attempt to get his ball out of a water hazard.

In the clip, the player is standing precariously over his ball, which is submerged in a water fountain; and in true Jean Van de Velde fashion is getting ready to play his shot. However, as he goes to play the shot, the fountain begins to geyser, lifting the ball clear of the water.

The player seizes the opportunity to putt the ball from the jet of water, and you can guess the rest as the ball pops into the hole.

The video, labelled ‘the greatest putt-putt shot of all time’ now has almost 600,000 views on You Tube, but some are already claiming the shot was rigged.

Rigged or not, there’s no doubt Jean Van de Velde would have wished for such a thing happening at Carnouste back in 1999, but what do you think?

Is it a genuine shot? Or staged for camera? What’s your best crazy-golf story?
