The US Open at Congressional Country Club, Maryland takes centre stage this week, and the season’s second major looks a wide-open contest with most bookmakers going 12/1 the field and several paying out on the first six places – so shop around!
No Tiger Woods in the field this week with the former world number one having earlier withdrew from the tournament due to injury, but Woods’ absence detracts little from what is a star-studded field.
Lee Westwood and Luke Donald head the betting markets and the world’s top two players are sure to put on a bold show, while 2010 Pebble Beach winner Graeme McDowell will bid to defend his title.

The 7,400 yard long Quail Hollow course is the venue for this week’s event on the PGA Tour – the Wells Fargo Championship, won last year by Rory McIlroy and a strong line-up has assembled for the event, including the likes of Phil Mickelson and world number one Martin Kaymer amongst others.

The US Masters is the only show in town this week, and the season’s first major at Augusta National is a tournament like no other. Tight, tree-lined fairways littered with sand-traps and water hazards, and glass-like greens make the Augusta challenge like no other.
Phil Mickelson is the defending champion this week, and fresh off an impressive three-shot win last week in the Shell Houston Open will be the one to beat.
