The history of the Green Jacket at The Masters

Dating back to 1937, the Green Jacket worn by members of Augusta National is one of golf’s most synonymous items of clothing. Originally sourced from Brooks Uniform company in New York, the Jacket was encouraged to be worn by members so patrons of the early Masters Tournaments could seek out them out as fountains of knowledge on Augusta National. As you can imagine, the sunshine of Georgia, made these coats less than appealing so were replaced by a custom made jacket. Since 1967 the jackets have been made by Hamilton Tailoring Company.
