Despite sitting in the shadows of its illustrious neighbour, Augusta Country Club actually pre-dates Augusta National by more than 30 years. The course itself is found just beyond the 12th green and 13th tee of Augusta National and features many of the designs that have made the Masters so special.
The signature hole is found on the 8th which is a superb par-5 measuring just over 600 yards, with a creek meandering through the hole it is very easy to think you are playing Augusta’s most famous course. The course itself has benefitted recently from reworking from both Donald Ross and Brian Silva who has focussed on creating bunkers which are very similar to the style that has made this area famous.
Anyone travelling to this area for the Masters should ensure they try to get a round in at this private members establishment. The superb atmosphere of the club and southern hospitality are of the very highest quality and are a must experience when in Augusta.
