Constance Belle Mare Plage sits on Mauritius's north-east coast, set within a 150-acre palm-lined estate alongside a long, bright stretch of sand that regularly makes the island's best-beach lists. If you're booking Mauritius for golf and proper beach time, this place ticks both boxes without feeling try-hard. It's polished, relaxed and geared for golfers who want great courses on-site, then a cold drink with their feet in the sand afterwards.

What really makes Belle Mare stand out is that the golf is not an add-on. You've got two full championship courses, Legend and Links, with a track record of hosting European Senior Tour events and Ladies European Tour tournaments. That pedigree shows in the conditioning, the routing and the overall challenge. It's the combination of serious golf and classic Indian Ocean scenery that keeps it high on the list of Mauritius favourites, and why many golfers rate it as arguably the island's most established golf resort.

Off the course, you're covered. There's the Shiseido Spa, a well-equipped fitness centre with classes including yoga, a kids club for ages 4 to 11 and a big menu of water sports. If you fancy an easy win on day one, the complimentary glass-bottom boat trip is a great way to get a look at the lagoon before you even unpack the clubs. The service here is what sets Belle Mare apart from other resorts. It's the sort of attentive, intuitive hospitality that makes a good resort genuinely memorable, and it's a big part of why this place has become a Mauritius favourite.

Who is this for?
Golfers who want two on-site championship courses plus a proper beach resort, ideal if your group has non-golfers who'll use the spa, water sports and restaurants. It's also a strong choice for couples and families looking for a high-quality all-inclusive holiday that delivers across golf, dining and beach without compromise.

Who is it best for?
Mid-handicappers and confident higher-handicappers who enjoy a genuine test when the wind gets up, and couples or groups who value service, variety of dining and easy on-site logistics. If you're the sort of golfer who wants to play two quality courses multiple times across a week without leaving the resort, Belle Mare is built for exactly that.

Golf Courses at Constance Belle Mare Plage

Legend Course

The Legend Course is the crowing glory of Belle Mare Plage's golfing arena, and was designed by South African Hugh Baiocchi. The course skirts one of the island's most idyllic beaches, and is carved through the wildlife-rich forests of Mauritius' east coast.

Baiocchi's concept was realised by a construction process in accordance with USGA guidelines, and its greens are renowned for their slick surfaces. Each hole is truly unique around this most amazing course, from the legendary layout to the views of the famous Mauritian coastline.

The Legend course is ranked as one of the best courses in Mauritius

Links Course

Added to the Belle Mare Plage Resort in 2002, the Links Course measures over 6,500 yards, and was designed by Rodney Wright, in conjunction with golfing legend Peter Alliss. The par-71 layout has matured nicely since its inauguration, and has helped to ease the traffic around the famous Legend Course. The same water features and woodland help to provide beauty and challenge. With the club house in sight, golfers have to hold their nerve to carry the water that guards the final green at this magnificent resort course.

Pluck up some courage at the Legend's 17th - the island green is perched atop a volcanic outcrop, bathed in the beautiful aquamarine of the Indian Ocean.

Accommodation at Constance Belle Mare Plage

The accommodation splits between 92 recently refurbished sea-facing Prestige Rooms and 137 Sea View Suites, all opening onto private balconies or terraces with views across the estate or ocean. Every room comes with air-conditioning, satellite television, direct dial telephone, safe deposit box and a dedicated seating area, so you're well set up whether you're unwinding after a round or planning the next day's tee time. The refurbishment is recent enough that everything feels fresh, and the rooms are laid out with enough space to spread out golf kit, dry shoes and sort your bag without tripping over suitcases.

The Prestige Rooms work well for couples or solo golfers who want comfort and a sea view without needing masses of space. They're a solid base if you're spending most of your time on the course, at the beach or in the restaurants, and the balconies are big enough for a morning coffee while you check the wind direction before your round. If you're the sort of golfer who likes to get back to the room between rounds for a quick shower and a lie-down, the layout is practical and the air-conditioning is effective, which matters when you've just walked 18 in tropical heat.

The Suites step things up with a separate seating area and whirlpool bath, adding that extra layer of comfort that makes a difference on a longer stay. The additional space is particularly useful for groups or couples who want a bit more room to relax in the evenings, and the whirlpool is a nice touch after a long day on your feet. If you're booking a week or more, the Suites are worth the upgrade, they give you more flexibility in how you use the room and make it feel less like a hotel and more like a proper base.

If you're after more space and privacy, there are 20 Garden or Beach Pool Villas, plus a Presidential Villa positioned right on the beach with uninterrupted sea views. The villas work particularly well for families or groups who want their own space while still having full access to everything the resort offers. They're self-contained enough that you can have breakfast on your terrace and plan the day without feeling like you're in a busy hotel corridor, but close enough to the main facilities that you're not isolated. For larger groups or multi-generational trips, the villas give you the option to spread out while still keeping everyone on-site, which is a big advantage when you're trying to coordinate tee times, restaurant bookings and beach days.

Dining here is varied and genuinely good. La Citronelle is the main beachside restaurant, perfect for relaxed meals with your feet practically in the sand, while the Blue Penny Café Gourmet Restaurant delivers a refined à la carte menu that's earned a strong reputation, so book ahead if you want a table during your stay. The gourmet restaurant is the sort of place you'll want to visit at least once across a week, the cooking is a step up from typical resort fare and the wine list is well chosen.

For traditional Mauritian flavours, the Deer Hunter restaurant sits inside the Legend clubhouse, ideal for a post-round meal without leaving the course. The menu leans into local dishes with proper spicing and fresh ingredients, and it's a good way to try Mauritian cooking in a relaxed, golfer-friendly setting. If you've just finished 18 and can't be bothered heading back to your room to change, Deer Hunter is the obvious choice, the dress code is sensible and the atmosphere is easy.

When you want something more casual, Indigo Beach, Le Swing and La Kaze cover you with sandwiches, salads, grilled dishes and pizzas, the sort of flexible options that suit a day built around the beach or an afternoon round. Six separate bars are spread across the resort, so there's always somewhere nearby for a cold drink, whether you're coming off the 18th or settling in for sunset. Right, if you're anything like me, you'll try to squeeze in a twilight round, then wonder why you ever agreed to dinner at a sensible time.

The variety means you can mix things up across a week-long stay without feeling like you're eating the same meal twice, and the quality is consistent. It's the kind of dining setup that works for golfers who want choice and flexibility rather than being locked into one restaurant every night, and the all-inclusive option makes it easy to try different venues without worrying about the bill stacking up.

The prestigious Shiseido Spa is focused not only on cosmetic beauty, but a total goal of complete wellbeing, offering treatments aimed at harmony of body and mind. The nearby health and fitness centre boasts a sauna, steam bath, plunge pool, jacuzzi and an aerobic studio which schedules classes including yoga. If you're building in a rest day between rounds, the spa is a smart way to spend a morning, particularly if you've been walking the courses and your legs are feeling it.

The fabulous beach is a favourite with water sports enthusiasts, where you can try activities including kayaking, sailing, water skiing, windsurfing, scuba diving, parasailing and sport fishing. The lagoon is calm and clear, which makes it ideal for beginners trying water sports for the first time, and the dive centre can organise trips out to deeper reefs if you're certified and want to explore beyond the shallows. Get the best view of the underwater tropical wildlife by going on a complimentary glass-bottom boat trip, which is a low-effort, high-reward way to see the marine life without getting wet.

In addition to the myriad of leisure activities and pursuits, and the obvious splendour of the beach, Belle Mare has an enviable reputation for its impeccable levels of service, which is why it is established as such a Mauritius favourite. The staff are attentive without being intrusive, and there's a genuine sense that they want your stay to work well, whether that's sorting a last-minute tee time change or recommending a quiet spot on the beach.

The resort is located on the north-east coast of the island, a 60-minute transfer from Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport, or 15 minutes by helicopter if you prefer. Direct flights from London with British Airways or Air Mauritius take around 12 hours, and most golfers find the journey straightforward enough that you can land, transfer and still have energy for a late lunch and a walk around the courses before your first round the next day.

A very enjoyable stay and golf at the Belle Mare Plage to celebrate our 25th anniversary. Excellent resort, all the staff are really friendly and helpful. Two great courses to play and having unlimited tee times with buggies on the all-inclusive package was good value. All organised in advance for us by Ian Purvis and the team at YGT. Thanks to YGT and Belle Mare Plage for a memorable holiday.

This is our third stay at Belle Mare Plage and we will be returning in 2027. The accommodation is lovely with most having sea views. All the restaurants have very good food and wine menus. I would certainly recommend all inclusive. But it is the staff who really make you welcome and want your stay to be memorable.

Very good layout and in good condition. I played off the backs and found it a fair test. The staff were very helpful and the facilities were 1st class. The concern we had was the standard of golf was dreadful. There is no monitoring of the golf standards and the marshalls did little to move play on. Most of the people we either saw or in some instances played with were not of a standard to play these courses and on our last day the Swiss couple should not have been playing and it ruined our game.

It was a shame for us that there was a 4 day competition taking place during our stay which meant we couldn’t play the course as much as we would have liked to.

A different course from Legend with piles of volcanic lava a different hazard, but beautiful and for the straight hitters very manageable. Like Legend hazards placed to disrupt the lower handicappers and big hitters but it was my favourite course.
