Bonita Bay East offers gofers travelling to the USA for a Floridian golf break two outstanding championship courses that are set in over 1000 acres of preserved cypress wetlands. Both courses were designed by the revered architect Tom Fazio who is also responsible for some of the very best courses in the world including the likes of Sage Valley, Pinehurst and Pelican Hill.
Cypress Course
Measuring anything from 5,999 yards to 7,077, the Cypress Course is the longer of the two at Bonita Bay. The Cypress is very much a course of two halves with the front nine being largely defined and shaped by natural bunkers yet remaining fairly open before the back nine becomes tighter thanks to the natural forest that begins to line the fairways. Not only does this provide a challenge but it also acts as a majestic backdrop.
Sabal Course
The Sabal Course is so named for the abundance of native Sabal Palms that are dotted all over the course. Although the Sabal is not as long as its sister course, the Cypress, it is every bit as challenging. Measuring anywhere between 6,029 yards to 7,038 yards depending on the tee you pay from, the Sabal course is sure to delight both beginners and more talented and experienced players in equal measure. Undulating fairways and the constant threat of natural water hazards also add to the challenge. Look out for the par 4 6th where players must negotiate devilish bunkers and a well protected, double tiered green in order to make par.
