This old school links, established in 1895, is well worth a visit if you're enjoying a golf tour in this wild and beautiful part of Wales. Situated near Aberystwyth, it's a classic seaside layout that partly relies on the elements for its defences but its sandy soil means the condition of the course is nearly always good, allowing you to enjoy your round to the full.

Like most classic links courses, Borth runs ‘out and back', which may not suit those who like to snatch a quick nine holes but it is fairer on those want to play a whole round because seaside courses like this are usually subjected to a constant sea breeze.
Borth Golf Club is little beauty, set on the estuary of the River Dovey in the sweep of Cardigan Bay. It enjoys stunning views over the coast and, luckily, the golf course lives up to the vistas. Redesigned by Harry Colt in 1945, it is a highly entertaining test, one that rewards good shotmaking and those with a creative short game.
There are rolling humps and hollows, and strategically placed bunkers ensure that each shot needs to be struck accurately in order to challenge par. There are no hills to speak of, so the easy walking here will entice you to play more than one round per day. There's a good mix of par-3, 4 and 5 holes and the stretch around the turn with the ocean close by are particularly memorable.
