Brazil has long been known as a land of vast rainforests, endless stretches of magnificent beaches and rich cultural heritage. Now, it's fast gaining a well-deserved reputation for having many excellent golf courses too.
Around 30 clubs have been built in the last 5 years and the ‘Confederacão Brasileiro de Golfe‘ (C.B.G) has opened the country‘s first public course near Congonhas airport.
Sao Paulo has dozens of golf clubs while Rio de Janeiro has several world class golf facilities as well. Iguassu Falls (in the inland south) and Manaus (at the heart of the Amazon) offer also top golf opportunities. And Bahia has some of the greatest courses in the country in Trancoso, Costa do Sauipe and Comandatuba Island.
In Brazil, golf is a year-round sport. Although there is an official season which generally runs from February or March (depending upon the Carnival) until November, this may vary from club to club. In São Paulo, the rainy season is December and January, with downpours almost every day in late afternoon or early evening.
