The Ocean is a rollercoaster championship course that was conceived by the great Jack Nicklaus. The Golden Bear does not sign his name to many new creations, but Cabo Del Sol's Ocean is one of his best. The peninsula provided the creators of the golf course with a remarkable blank canvas, and the resultant highlights include a set of awe-inspiring short holes.
One of those, the penultimate hole, is part of a triumvirate which Jack Nicklaus asserts is the finest closing stretch in world golf. Quite a claim indeed, but one thing is sure: the 175-yard carry across the bay to the water-encircled 17th green is one of the game's great thrills.
