Chateau Des Vigiers

The original eighteen holes at Chateau Des Vigiers were formulated by the esteemed Donald Steel, and were opened in 1991. While these were well received, the demand of golfing visitors to this amazing destination necessitated expansion, and a further nine holes have recently been completed.

Steel is regarded as one of the most subtle golf course designers, and one who always remains appreciative and aware of the effects on the local landscape. As such, Steel allowed the terrain to dictate the style of the course, and the results are spectacular. The condition of the courses is always impeccable, and there can surely be few more special places to enjoy holiday golf than this charming corner of Aquitaine.

Vigiers also has a 6-hole academy course that is perfect for beginners or youngsters.

Chateau Des Vigiers is a special golf holiday destination, tucked away in the dramatic rural landscape of south west France’s Aquitaine region. Guests can choose from a number of different accommodation options, all of which ooze the traditional and quintessential charm of the estate’s surroundings.

The historic chateau, which dominates the landscape, was fully restored in 1991, and now fulfils its magical potential. Its 25 rooms are traditional and luxurious, with many period features merely adding to the charm and class. Added in 1992, the Dependances boosted the Vigiers total by 22 rooms, while the Relais des Vigiers, scheduled for opening in Spring 2008, will feature a further 40 deluxe rooms and suites.

All the accommodation is superbly appointed, and features the perfect balance of traditional charm and modern convenience. It is of little surprise that Chateau Des Vigiers remains among the most desirable and exclusive destinations in France, so why not make it the choice for your next escape to the Aquitaine region.

The renowned Maria Galland spa in Paris is the influence for the wellness complex at Chateau Des Vigiers, where the three deluxe treatment rooms are complemented by a sauna, jacuzzi, steam room, outdoor swimming pool and a well equipped gym.

Chateau Des Vigiers still produces outstanding dry white, red, rose and sweet wines, while the region’s names like St Emilion, Sauternes and Medoc should certainly not be missed.

The gourmet Les Fresques is the highlight of the gastronomic experience at Vigiers, where foie gras and duck are among the Dordogne specialities.

Golfer reviews

This proved to be an excellent golf holiday with good value for the price. Initially we felt that perhaps we should have chosen the Chateau accommodation, especially after seeing the outside of the Relais which appeared a bit austere. How wrong we were! The rooms in the Relais are really good. A large airy bed sitting room with even BBC programmes on the T.V! There was plenty of wardrobe and storage space. The bathroom was modern and spacious with an adjoining wet room. Outside the balcony, overlooking the course, would seat 6 people comfortably and was ideal for after golf sun and relaxation with a good book! The pool and sunbathing area was much appreciated. The half board was exceptionally good and the complimentary 'Gourmet' meal in the Chateau was a nice touch of luxury which we much enjoyed.

The golf was especially efficiently run. The Caddy Master was really on top of the bookings, at no time during our 5 games were we held up or pressured from behind, (In spite of it being high season) and if the courses got a bit busy he would switch you to a different nine so that you had a more comfortably round. In fact the whole resort is relaxed and friendly.

So thank you once again Your Golf Travel for a much enjoyed and relaxed golf break. We will certainly be returning here at a future date.

This was our second visit to Chateau de Vigiers, both visits have been very enjoyable. The golf courses were in good order, and the greens were in very good nick. The clubhouse staff were very attentive and helpful.

We had an excellent room on the ground floor of the Relais that was extremely spacious and comfortable. The room was cleaned daily with fresh towels and we felt that the standard was definitely 4*. The Bistro Restaurant had a good variety of food at both lunch and dinner. We arrived home feeling that we’d really had a truly relaxing golf break. We would like to thank Your Golf Travel for arranging the break for us. Your service is consistently friendly, efficient and helpful.
