GATTON MANOR

prev next

Gatton Manor is a little known gem of England's south east, nestled in leafy Surrey within easy reach of London. The golf course itself was constructed in the late 1960s, and was conceived by Commander John Harris, a distinguished architect who went on to create fantastic golf courses around the world, particularly in New Zealand.

Gatton Manor can also be booked as part of Surrey Golf Tours. Click here to view the other courses and hotels on the tour.

The streams and ditches of the delightful landscape have been skillfully manipulated to produce a series of remarkable and distinctive holes, all winding through the mature woodland that is so characteristic of this lovely part of the world.

Though not especially long - Gatton Manor reaches 6,600 yards at its peak - the golf course is a decent test of golf, even for low handicappers. This is predominantly due to the subtle and varied design of Commander Harris, whose creation demands every shot in the bag.

While it may not be revered like many of Surrey's classics, Gatton Manor is a charming course that is the ideal rural retreat for a relaxing golf break.

Awarded three stars by the AA, Gatton Manor is a fantastic country retreat, offering a slower pace of life, but in spite of this, it is within a short drive of London. The house is located amid delightful woodland, tucked away in a charming part of the south east.

The majority of the accommodation underwent a thorough refurbishment in 2007, and the result is that Gatton Manor offers 18 superb guest bedrooms. All are equipped with en suite bathrooms, as well as a television, telephone and tea/coffee making facilities.

The warm welcome that is extended to all visitors embellishes the charm of Gatton Manor, which is the perfect place to escape for an intimate golfing getaway.

Meetings/Conferences

Gatton Manor provides the perfect opportunity to host your event away from the bustle of central London, and is ideal for meetings, brainstorming or training events. Three spacious and recently redecorated conference rooms are available, all of which overlook the golf course and are complete with internet access, as well as plenty of natural light. The venue offers the chance to combine golf and fishing with your event, adding to the charm of a meeting or corporate event at Gatton Manor.
