- 2 Rounds at Staverton Park Golf Course
1 Night, 2 Rounds
Staverton Park is a popular stay-and-play option in the Midlands, pairing a modern, well-equipped hotel with a championship parkland course just outside Daventry. If you enjoy traditional inland golf, you'll like the feel here: mature trees frame many holes, bunkers are positioned to catch anything loose and water comes into play often enough to keep you honest.
The layout tends to reward sensible course management over pure power. There's good variety across the round, so it stays engaging for mixed-ability groups, particularly societies who want a fair test without it feeling like a slog.
It's also an easy one to organise. With the M1 close by, Staverton Park is reachable from most parts of the UK, which makes weekend logistics simpler for groups travelling from different directions. Once you arrive, the setting feels pleasantly self-contained, with 150 acres of parkland around the hotel and course.
Off the course, you've got the essentials covered: comfortable rooms, a leisure club with pool, gym, sauna and steam room, plus an on-site bar and restaurant for post-round food and drinks. If you're after a convenient Midlands base with golf, accommodation and facilities all in one place, Staverton Park ticks the key boxes.

Staverton Park is renowned locally for two things: the super greens which are playable throughout the calendar year, and the warm welcome reserved for all those fortunate enough to visit, making it a joy for all who choose it for a golf break.
Since opening in 1977, the parkland layout has matured greatly, and the course has grown and bedded in, with numerous hazards, including lakes and severe bunkers, posing a considerable challenge to all standards of golfers. Course condition is great all year round, with firm, fast greens and hilly fairways offering great views of the East Midlands countryside.
The front nine is undulating with some severe elevation changes, making for some tricky second shots. The back nine is flatter but features a great mix of holes, from the gorgeous par 3 12th to the thrilling finale on 18.
Staverton Park's resident PGA professionals are fully qualified to offer excellent tuition for both beginners and established players.
Signature Hole: 11th – Par 5, 554 yards
The signature 11th is the perfect risk/reward par 5 which invites the longer hitters to have a crack at reaching the green in two. Keep your tee shot as far right as you can without over-cooking it into the trees. This will set up an easier second shot; however a stream short of the green, plus a large bunker front-left, will test both your nerve and your ability to keep a fairway wood or long-iron on target. If you are not confident of carrying the stream, lay up short to set up a birdie chance.
Staverton Park has 247 rooms, making it a practical choice for societies, corporate groups and larger get-togethers where you need everyone under one roof. Room options cover the basics for solo travellers, couples and twins for golfing pairs, with modern essentials including high-speed internet and satellite TV in every room.
After a round, the leisure club is a genuine plus. There's an indoor pool for an easy recovery swim, a gym if you're fitting training in around golf and a sauna and steam room to help loosen up. The whirlpool spa is a welcome touch if you're playing back-to-back days or simply want to ease off after walking 18 holes on an undulating parkland layout.
Food and drink are straightforward to manage on-site, with a bar and restaurant in the hotel. That's handy when you'd rather not organise taxis or split the group up across different venues, particularly if you're staying for multiple nights and want to keep things simple. The restaurant offers enough variety to keep things interesting across a longer stay, and the bar has the kind of relaxed atmosphere that suits post-golf conversation without feeling overly formal.
For organisers, the size of the property and its location near the M1 also make it a familiar option for conferences and corporate outings, with space to bring everyone together before or after golf. That dual-purpose setup means the hotel is well-practised at handling groups, which tends to show in the service and the way check-in, dining and facilities are managed.
Parking is plentiful and included, which matters when you're coordinating arrivals from different parts of the country. The hotel sits within the estate grounds, so once you've checked in, everything you need, golf, leisure facilities, dining and your room, is within easy walking distance.
If you're planning a Midlands break and want to keep everything in one place, golf, accommodation, leisure facilities and dining, Staverton Park makes the logistics easy. It's the kind of setup that works particularly well for societies and groups who want a hassle-free weekend without the premium price tag you'd find at some of the bigger resort complexes.

The course was well presented for November albeit there weresome temporary teeing mats. The rooms was warm with comfortable beds. The hotel was very clean & tidy and we enjoyed our 1 night stay. The buggy speeds have been doctored to ensure safety, but they are very slow. All in all a nice little break, only 1 hour from our home address.

Bunkers were the main negative for our group weeds in a lot of them and the sand was too fine, the 9th and 18th tee box caused a real bottle neck as you had to tee off from the same box, at one time there were four groups all waiting to tee off,not great, overall course was in good condition for the amount of people it was accommodating

Considering the previous wet weather course was in great condition. Only downside played of temporary tees some off mats, some of grass. Greens were very fast. Course well manicured. First course all 20 people said lets go next year.

The course is a decent challenge, and I wiuld recommend a buggy as it is hilly. Decent greens albeit they'd been hollowtined recently, therefore slightly bobbly in places. Teeing mats were also in play on some holes.
