Cottesmore Hotel, Golf & Country Club

Venue-john-letters-banner

Cottesmore Golf & Country Club is a well established resort, set in 247 acres of stunning woodland and parkland in rural West Sussex, and boasts two lovely courses.

Golf courses

Griffin Course

The Griffin Course is the premier layout at Cottesmore, and is a genuine test of both skill and strategy. The predominant characteristics are the tight fairways, guarded by the mature woodland of the estate, and the small greens. This combination demands accuracy above all else, but the relatively short length of 6,248 ensures that the Griffin is manageable for all standards of golfers. Highlights are the short second and the penultimate hole, both of which demand well-struck iron shots over water.

Phoenix Course

The neighbouring Phoenix Course is regarded as Cottesmore's ‘second course', but it is also a splendid layout, bordered by the rhododendrons and woodland of this stunning landscape. The Phoenix is equally well maintained, but is slightly more forgiving from the tee, allowing for an extremely enjoyable challenge.

A golf break at Cottesmore will be immensely enjoyable for all those who appreciate a good test of golf, set within some of the region's most stunning countryside.

The 2nd hole on the Griffin measures only 112 yards to the front, but the putting surface is more than 50 yards deep, so be sure to take the pin position into account when you select your club.

Hotel Information

The farm buildings that were once scattered around the original country house have now been tastefully revamped to offer good quality traditional hospitality to travelling golfers.

The 21 guest rooms have been individually designed, and decorated sympathetically to reflect the original style of the hotel itself. This rural setting is the perfect place for a golf break away from the rigours of city life, with a warm welcome and relaxed environment.

Cottesmore's Health Club offers guests every opportunity to relax properly, with facilities including a swimming pool, hot tub, steam room, sauna and the on-site spa, where the massages are particularly memorable. The gym is equipped with a good variety of cardiovascular training equipment and a range of free weights.

The Challis Restaurant's menu is full of appetising home-cooked classics.

Top place, had an excellent time and the service was fantastic.

Thank you and the team for an excellent weekend at Cottesmore, we would definitely go there again the Griffin course is excellent and the food and accommodation more than adequate for what we wanted. I will definitely give you a call when organising the next one. Regards,

We are happy to report back that our Sunday Saver break at Cottesmore Hotel and Golf Club was a wonderful experience. The value for money was amazing and all 6 of the party thoroughly enjoyed it and we would have no reservations in recommending to all our golfing friends. The accommodation and service was very good and the Griffin Course was excellent and extremely testing.Regards,

Our golf trip to Cottesmore Golf Club this year was the third time that we have visited this club and I am pleased to say it was equally as enjoyable as our previous golf breaks here. We found the staff at Cottesmore welcoming, helpful and cheerful which I know is not always the case with a group of rowdy men on a golf holiday. The two courses are both challenging for us as our home club at Westgate and Birchington is a links course so any other club which has lots of trees and some water is definitely a challenge! We were booked for four rounds, two of which were in dry conditions but the other two were in persistent rain which did spoil our enjoyment but like all real golfers we kept on going and moaned about it afterwards in the bar! The food served at breakfast and dinner was delicious, hot and in a quantity to satisfy the gluttons among our group. The girls in the bar had to put up with a lot of banter but replied in equal measure and hopefully were not too offended. We thought the drinks prices were a bit expensive compared to our part of the world but fully understand why there is such a difference. We would go back to Cottesmore again but we might consider another venue next year for a change if somewhere with the same facilities and of course price could tempt us away. Your Golf Travel were very helpful in arranging our booking and if you said you would phone back you always did promptly. We will be back to book golf tours in the future.
