Domaine D'Auriac

The estate that the course is built upon was formerly a private park, and the beautiful undulations are now home to a pleasant holiday course. Carcassonne reflects perfectly the attitude towards life in this traditional region of France; the surroundings are beautiful and there are some excellent holes, but the course is not the most demanding.

Strolling the fairways and taking it all in is the attraction at Carcassonne, before retiring for a pretty well-earned refreshment.

Accommodation

The 4* Domaine d'Auriac is a member of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux association, and is set amid the leafy branches of a 300 year-old park, just a stone's throw from the Mediterranean shoreline.

Tranquility, luxury and peace pervade throughout the estate, in the heart of which is found a stunning 19th century manor house. The chateau is now home to 26 bedrooms, which are decorated and furnished in a warm, traditional manner.

With great views out over the park and the golf course, the hotel provides complete comfort in a rustic French fashion, and with the addition of a Michelin-starred restaurant, it is an extremely attractive and intimate destination for a golf escape to France's South coast.

Visitors to the Domaine d'Auriac are welcome to make use of the leisure facilties, which include a swimming pool, sauna and a tennis court.

The hotel's dining room is dominated by the fireplace, which roars during the winter months. The head chef recreates the most famous regional classics, while the pastry chef is responsible for the sumptuous desserts.

One of Carcassonne's best dining rooms is Restaurant Gil, which specialises in Catalan-influenced cuisine. The fresh seafood and grilled fish comes highly recommended.
