Fairhaven Golf Club

Fairhaven Golf Club

Fairhaven is a traditional and extremely demanding links course that is one of the R&A's favourite choices for Open Championship qualifying. In fact, final qualifying saw Justin Leonard scorch to a course record 64, a feat that saw the club grant him honorary membership.

Fairhaven Golf Club

Golf World has listed Fairhaven in its list of the top 10 Open Championship qualifying courses, and the course has a long list of devoted admirers. Founded in 1895, this delightful landscape is home to an enchanting links course which is at the heart of any good golf tour of the Wirral.

Sandy sub-soil underpins Fairhaven, which is retained in immaculate condition throughout the year. In addition to the final qualifying, the club has played host to a number of prestigious national and international events, including the debut of a youthful Sergio Garcia for the full Spanish team.

Lytham and St Annes, the Open Championship venue, naturally hogs the limelight in this part of Lancashire, but its less illustrious neighbours, including Fairhaven, are absolutely charming. This links treasure is a firm favourite with regular visitors, and is a star attraction as part of a Lancashire golf tour.
