The golfer’s answer to the credit crunch? Carry on swinging!
In an independent study, Your Golf Travel.com surveyed 12,000 clients and found the vast majority of golfers will beat the recession bogey by continuing to spend their time and money on the fairways.
An impressive 94 per cent of respondents plan to take a golfing holiday this year and 87 per cent declared golf would be the last luxury item they would give up.
Golf club memberships also appear unlikely to be affected, with 71 per cent saying they are unlikely to give up any golf memberships. More than three quarters stated that playing golf in 2009 is a priority for them, simply in order to keep fit and healthy.
“When I’m playing golf, that’s all I think about”, said George from Norfolk. “Golf’s a great escape from the credit crunch. I don’t have to worry about economic doom and gloom or falling house prices – the hardest thing I’ll contemplate is whether it’s a 6 or a 7 iron!”.
Ross Marshall, Your Golf Travel’s Managing Director, said “Demand for golf has thrived during the current slowdown, with prices coming down, more people working flexi-hours and enjoying more free time. Our survey and record sales show that golfing trips are recession proof and there really is no better time to get back on the golf course.”
Your Golf Travel.com, Europe’s fastest growing golf travel company, is doing its bit to help golfers play through the recession, with a host of great golfing getaways for as little as £36 per person.
