Located South of Dorking this gem is within easy reach of London, the south coast and major motorways (M25, A3, M23). Gatton Manor, set within 200 acres of leafy Surrey, is the ideal retreat for a relaxing golf break.
The golf course itself was constructed in the late 60s, and was conceived by Commander John Harris, a distinguished architect who went on to create fantastic golf courses around the world, particularly in New Zealand.
Though not especially long – Gatton Manor reaches 6,600 yards at its peak - the challenging course is a great test of golf even for low handicappers and boosts the longest hole in the South East of England (645 yards). No two holes are alike and imaginative use has been made of streams, lakes and tree-lined fairways.
Driving through narrow country lanes, you immediately sense a slower pace and feel the stress of modern life drain away as you arrive at Gatton Manor. Gatton Manor is a fantastic country retreat but in spite of this a short drive of London.
Gatton Manor has18 bedrooms, a mixture of twin or doubles, many of which are situated in the manor house; this dates back to 1728 and was the original Dowager House of the Abinger Estate. The Manor House bedrooms were refurbished in early 2007 and offer superior accommodation.
For those on a tighter budget, the Clubhouse rooms offer a comfortable alternative. The warm award winning welcome and service that is extended to all visitors embellishes the charm of Gatton Manor, which is the perfect place to escape for an intimate golfing getaway.
As you would expect there are excellent practice facilities – practice range, chipping area and putting green.
Gatton Manor also has a fitness suite again recently refurbished, which has been fitted out with new Techno Gym equipment (running machine, bicycle, cross trainer) and a renewed Concept 2 Rowing machine. There are also new free weights.
There is a games room equipped with pool table and darts board.
Gatton Manor has an in-house therapist who can provide a range of treatments in the comfort of your bedroom (ideal for the non-golfing partner!); bookings are subject to availability so we recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment.
The Clubhouse provides bar, restaurant and function room facilities and terraces overlooking the lake for ‘al fresco’ eating.
In the bar, the inglenook fireplace invites you to settle down and enjoy the local ales, wines and spirit on offer. A bar snack menu and a range of inviting daily specials are available throughout the day.
In the Restaurant, an a la carte menu is offered; this changes on a monthly basis to ensure we maximise use of seasonal ingredients and wherever possible locally sourced produce. We recognise that larger groups (12 or more) may want to make different dining arrangements, for example carvery; we are very happy to accommodate these when arranged in advance.
Late bars can be provided for large groups if arranged in advance.

Had a great time at Gatton Manor despite the snow. Thinking of going back next summer and possibly a trip abroad - just to warm the old bones. Will be in touch, thanks,
We’ve just got back from our 3 day golf break at Gatton Manor, and would like to say that it is a terrific golf course – every hole is interesting and challenging. The hotel was good, staff extremely helpful and food excellent and we would thoroughly recommend it to our friends. Thanks again,
Our golf break at Gatton Manor was fantastic and we would recommend both the venue and Your Golf Travel for anyone booking a golf holiday this summer. On the Sunday it was actually Captain’s Day at Gatton Manor. When we found this out we were a little concerned that it may cause some problems but we were made to feel very welcome and the members were all very friendly.
Four of us had played the golf course before and could remember a few of the holes but on the whole we found the course to be challenging and a lot of fun. The greens were slick and true and few of us ever managed to get to grips with them! The layout was excellent and we loved the maturity of the golf course. Every hole feels secluded from the rest of the course which provides the course with an atmospheric feeling. The staff were very helpful, especially the pro who gave us complimentary course planners which was a nice touch.
The staff at the 19th hole and the hotel were all very attentive and the service was great. The food and drink was reasonably priced compared to other venues we had visited on previous golf trips. The evening meal and breakfast were very enjoyable and well presented.
Overall everyone enjoyed the golf break we felt it was really good value for money. We bought the Sunday Special golf holiday package from Your Golf Travel and we thought the service from start to finish was exemplary. We even got a text as we pulled through the gates at Gatton Manor wishing us a good weekend...say hello to Mystic Meg for us!
