March 2008 - Aileen and Sandy Duthie
Our golf break at Gleneagles was simply magic.
Our friends and ourselves were both celebrating Ruby Weddings. As we like to play golf together we decided to treat ourselves to a 'Ruby Challenge' on the championship courses.
The hotel itself, our rooms, the food and facilities were second to none. Every comfort had been thought of. The bath was so big I could float in it - then wrapped in cosy white robe and slippers- relaxed before dinner on the huge bed. Most surprised to discover on returning to our room after eating that the bath had already been cleaned! The whole room was exceptionally clean and comfortable.
We were surprised on arrival by receiving flowers from our family with congrats on the anniversary. Then the hotel management sent champagne and cake! We were completely overwhelmed and delighted - we had not realised that they would know that we had come to celebrate our anniversary!
The weather was bright and sunny, though chilly.
We played the Queen's course on Saturday. This was my favourite of the weekend (probably because I felt I played better than usual). Loved ordering a snack at the ninth tee which was all ready for us by the time we reached Halfway House!
The King's Course was longer and trickier, but the day was bright and warm, the views from the course beautiful.
Staff at the hotel and at the Golf Club were lovely and welcoming. They were so friendly and helpful.
We all thoroughly enjoyed our special golf break and will be looking back with a smile on our special weekend in the years to come. I wonder if we will go again for our 50th anniversary?
Thank you very much Your Golf Travel for organising the holiday - you made it seem so easy!
