The 18 hole, 6,550-yard, par-72 championship course has been designed to make the best possible use of the natural terrain - the varying undulations of the land take the course from a height of 600 feet to 200 feet at the base. Players need to look out for the streams and small ponds which time has worn into the rolling landscape. Straight hitters will also appreciate the many trees and natural wooded areas which surround the course and endow it with an unforgettable natural beauty.
You have to negotiate the lower slopes with streams running parallel and across the fairways over the first 11 holes. The 12th is a challenging uphill par-3 and then you enter the scenic holes which overlook Gloucester and the surrounding countryside. This stretch incorporates some interesting and tricky holes - especially the downhill 18th where many golfers have tried to drive the green, with disastrous consequences!
You can warm up on the driving range, which ahs 12 covered bays, while golfers are also able to take advantage of putting and chipping areas. The Gloucester Golf Academy offers professional advice to everyone, whether you're a beginner or an experienced golfer wanting to hone your skills.
