The Golf Hotel Woodhall Spa

The Golf Hotel is a short walk from Woodhall Spa, putting you within easy reach of the clubhouse and two of England's best inland tests, The Hotchkin and The Bracken. If your ideal break is 36 holes, a quick shower and a pint without thinking about transfers, this place makes it ridiculously simple.

Built in 1880, it keeps its classic Victorian frontage, but inside it's been updated with clean, modern bedrooms and the sort of no-nonsense set-up golfers appreciate. You're just off Woodhall Spa's Broadway for a couple of pubs, cafés and shops, yet the hotel still feels tucked away thanks to its seven acres of gardens and woodland.

Lincoln is roughly 20 to 30 minutes away by car if you fancy a wander round the Cathedral quarter between rounds, but most guests come for one thing: maximum time on the courses and minimum faff. The location is unbeatable if you're planning multiple rounds at Woodhall Spa. You can walk to the clubhouse, play 36 holes in a day without worrying about logistics, and you'll be back in the bar quickly after your round. The hotel's gardens and woodland setting give it a peaceful, secluded feel despite being just off the main street.

Who is this for?
Golfers, couples or groups who want an easy Woodhall Spa base within walking distance of the first tee.

Who is it best for?
Societies and serious players planning multiple rounds at The Hotchkin and The Bracken who care more about location and convenience than spa-style facilities.

Accommodation at The Golf Hotel Woodhall Spa

There are 50 en-suite rooms, refurbished in a straightforward contemporary style that's a good match for a golf weekend. Expect the essentials you actually use on a trip: satellite TV, tea and coffee, a hairdryer and a trouser press, plus a quiet set-up that helps when you've got an early tee time booked. Room options typically include doubles and twins, with some family rooms, so it works for mates' trips as well as mixed groups.

Facilities are pleasantly simple. There's a restaurant for breakfast and evening meals and a lounge bar that becomes the natural meeting point after golf. If the weather behaves, the gardens are a handy spot for a bit of fresh air without heading back into the village. It's worth being clear on what this hotel is and isn't. You're not coming here for a spa, a gym or a long list of resort bells and whistles. You're coming because you can walk to Woodhall Spa, play two cracking rounds and be back with minimal logistics. In my book, that's exactly what a proper golf base should do.

Food is classic hotel fare. Breakfast is geared towards golfers, with plenty to set you up for 18 or 36 holes. Dinner is usually a set menu or à la carte, depending on the time of year and how busy the hotel is, with familiar British favourites and lighter options. If you're travelling as a society, it's worth asking about group dining times and menu formats when you book. The lounge bar is the natural gathering point after a round, with local ales, wines and spirits plus bar snacks if you're not ready for a full dinner.

The Golf Hotel works well for golfers because it understands the rhythm of a golf break. Early breakfast is available for morning tee times, the bar stays open for post-round drinks and dinner, and the staff are used to handling golf groups, societies and individuals who want a simple, efficient stay. Ask reception about club storage and drying options for wet gear if the weather turns, and the team can point you towards local options if you're adding extra courses to your itinerary. If you're the type who'd rather spend your time on the range than in a taxi, this one makes total sense.

Ground floor bedroom has been refurbished to a decent standard my only criticism is the size of the shower cubicle which with a built in seat makes it a touch tight The bar flooring could do with a upgrade but generally the rest of the ground floor and hallway is very good Breakfast choices and quality good as was the staff Nice location…..good value for money

The hotel is in a great location, but, the rooms are dated and ours in particular was not good. The ensuite was small, the toilet seat was only attached at one side, the bath was half the normal size and you had to climb over the corner of the sink to get in because of the blind. On the plus side The he bar was okay and the breakfast was good.

Great location.

The hotel itself is in need of sprucing up, basic facilities in the rooms, no air con, windows not opening due to being painted up. Not terrible but not as good as other hotels I’ve stayed in. The location is fantastic for the courses at Woodhall Spa and a minute’s walk from a great Indian restaurant and a nice little bar. The breakfast was one of the best I’ve had in any hotel too.

Location for the golf course is perfect. Hotel staff exceptional, room felt a bit tired and dated, but clean and comfortable.
