Since its inauguration in 1993, the golf course at the Semlin Resort has established itself among the country’s elite, and has been recognised with the award of numerous international and national tournaments, including the German PGA Championship.
Designer Christoph Städler’s mandate was to create a course that was capable of hosting the most prestigious events, but that could also be enjoyed by the regular golfing visitor. Spread out across a large expanse of Brandenburg’s lovely countryside, Semlin’s holes are well defined and individual, each one separated by the great array of bunkers, rough and water.
There are 27 holes at the resort, with the longest combination producing a championship layout that measures 6,678 yards. The so-called ‘third nine’ is by no means a weak link, ensuring that visiting golfers will enjoy the superb variety that Semlin boasts.
Semlin’s golf complex also includes a dedicated academy, where the latest technology and a six-hole short course are among the notable features.
The hotel at Semlin was opened in 1996, and with its establishment came the region of Berlin-Brandenburg’s first comprehensive golf and leisure resort.
The style is modern throughout, with an emphasis on function and convenience, and the hotel prides itself on the quality of its accommodation. There are 76 bedrooms and suites, all of which are spacious, and come complete with a private balcony or terrace, colour television, mini-bar, safe deposit box and deluxe bathroom.
The all-encompassing resort is well-equipped to welcome both golf and leisure travellers, and justifies Semlin’s contribution to Germany’s emergence as a genuine golf holiday destination.
