The club was founded in 1882 when a doctor posted temporarily in the region realised that the North Denes were extremely suitable for golf. In fact, the sandy soil is the basis for Great Yarmouth and Caister's reputation for having magical putting surfaces.
Bordered by long fescue rough, the course is seaside golf in an old-fashioned and understated sense, which is why it is so loved by links golf enthusiasts.
In association with other outstanding courses such as Royal Norwich, Great Yarmouth and Caister is at the heart of a fantastic golf tour in Norfolk.
