    Half Moon Resort

The acclaimed original design of Robert Trent Jones Senior has been tastefully reworked by his protégé Roger Rulewich, whose newly aligned sets of tee boxes have greatly enhanced the playing experience. From the championship tees, Half Moon will now stretch to 7,119 yards, but like all good resort courses, there are markers to suit golfers of all abilities.

Great, undulating putting surfaces and astute bunkering are the overwhelming characteristics at Half Moon, whose relatively flat resort layout is a genuine delight, and has hosted prestigious events including the Jamaican Open and a PGA Seniors Tour championship. A golfing visit to the Montego Bay area would not be complete without a stop at Half Moon, the grand old dame of Jamaican golf.

Slice or hook, the David Leadbetter golf academy on site at the Half Moon Resort has the answer.

    Accommodation

The crescent-shaped beach of perfect white sand is central to the naming of the historic Half Moon Resort, which has long been at the forefront of leisure tourism in Jamaica.

The resort’s accommodation is housed in whitewashed Georgian-style buildings, which sit majestically amid lush tropical gardens, evoking images of the Caribbean’s colonial history. Inside, the décor and furnishings exude the utmost elegance and style, with dark wood and warm tones off-setting the simplicity of the surroundings.

Guests at the Half Moon can choose from a terrific range of accommodation, including 198 rooms and suites, as well as 34 majestic villas, with three to seven bedrooms each. The exquisite interior style is mirrored in the quality of the facilities, which are tailor-made to maximize both comfort and convenience.

In addition to the Half Moon’s signature beach, the resort is superbly equipped and easily accessed from Montego Bay, so why not experience Jamaican history by making it the destination for your next golf escape to the Caribbean sun.

The guest services at the Half Moon Resort ensure that there should never be a dull moment; if relaxing on the crescent beach and splashing in the Caribbean surf is not enough, there is a full spa and relaxation area, a well equipped health and fitness complex, 13 tennis courts and 4 squash courts. Alternatively, you can go shopping, horse riding, or swimming with dolphins. The resort also has no less than 51 swimming pools, spread throughout the stunning property.

The many high profile guests to have visited Half Moon include Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, John and Jacqueline Kennedy, Clark Gable and George W. Bush.

Six delightful restaurants showcase the latest international culinary trends, and also the local flavours of Jamaica.

The Seagrape Terrace, under the shade of beautiful almond trees, is an idyllic place to enjoy a freshly mixed cocktail.
