Established in 1894, Hamilton Golf and Country Club is one of Canada's established and celebrated golfing venues, and its tradition is inherently tied to a British legend. Although the club had already been in existence for over 20 years, it was not until the South and West loops were completed in 1916 that the course made its mark.

It was in this year that Harry S. Colt, responsible for Sunningdale's New Course among others, completed his two nine-hole courses. The Canadian Open, now a fully fledged co-sanctioned USPGA Tour event, has been held at Hamilton Golf and Country Club in years as far apart as 1919 and 2003, underlining that quality is the best route to longevity.
This must play course remains at the forefront of golf in a country more recognised for its winter sports, which is credit to both Colt's design and the continued excellence of the course's upkeep, affirming that Hamilton is one of Canada's premier golfing destinations.
