The layout was devised by Stanley Thompson and held its inauguration in 1939, and since then, its army of devoted followers has waxed lyrical on its merits. The course, and its designer, has drawn considerable influence from the principles of golf in Scotland, and as such, the layout is formed of a traditional out-and-back loop.
And the Celtic connection does not end there; Thompson name each of his holes individually with a distinct Scottish twist. The Highland Links is extremely charming, and is without doubt one of Canada's best loved golfing destinations.
