Perched on the marina in Fuengirola, Hotel Las Palmeras Affiliated by Fergus is a cracking value base for a Costa del Sol golf break. You've got sea views over the Alboran, the beach a short walk away and plenty going on in town once the clubs are back in the locker.

The big win is location. You're under 30 minutes from Málaga Airport, with Fuengirola's centre on your doorstep and a handy run to some of the coast's best-known tracks. Chaparral and Cabopino are within easy reach, and the three courses at La Cala Resort are a straightforward drive if you're planning a couple of rounds there. In other words, you can play a decent mix of courses without spending half the trip in the car.

Back at the hotel you've got the basics nailed: an outdoor pool for a post-round dip, a tennis court and a games room, plus a kids' club in peak season for anyone travelling as a family. The buffet restaurant covers breakfast, lunch and dinner, which is useful when you've got an early tee time or roll in late after 18.

It's the kind of place that works well for groups, couples and families. The setting is relaxed, the facilities are more than adequate and you're ideally placed to tick off a good mix of courses without spending half your trip in the car. Parking is straightforward if you're hiring a car, and the walk into town takes less than five minutes, so you're never far from a decent meal or a bit of nightlife.

Who is this for?
Golfers who want a good-value base in Fuengirola with easy course access and the beach close by.

Who is it best for?
Societies and groups chasing variety, plus couples and families who want golf, beach time and nightlife in one spot.

Accommodation at Hotel Las Palmeras Affiliated by Fergus

Following a refurbishment, the hotel's 398 rooms and suites feel fresh and well kept, especially for the price point. Rooms are spacious and light, with a simple classical style that does the job nicely after a long day in the sun. Air conditioning is standard, and you also get satellite TV, hairdryer, direct-dial telephone, safe deposit box and a private terrace.

If you can, it's worth requesting a sea-facing room. The terrace is a genuine perk for drying kit, sorting tomorrow's gear and grabbing a bit of evening breeze before heading into town. The layout is straightforward and designed to feel airy and cool, with enough space to spread out your kit and unwind properly after a round.

Facilities are geared towards an easy, no-fuss stay. The outdoor pool is the main hub in warmer months, with space to sit back and unwind after your round. There's also a tennis court and a games room for a change of pace on rest days. For families, the kids' club typically runs in peak periods, which frees you up for a morning tee time without worrying about keeping younger travellers entertained.

Food is buffet-style for all three meals. Expect a mixed international spread with familiar options, plus a few Spanish staples. It's not trying to be fine dining, but it's convenient, consistent and practical if you're playing golf most days and don't want to plan every meal around tee times. Breakfast is the usual continental spread with hot options, while lunch and dinner bring in a mix of Spanish and international dishes that cover most tastes.

All in, Las Palmeras is best viewed as a well-located base: comfortable rooms, solid facilities and quick access to Fuengirola's beach, bars and restaurants. The real appeal here is the combination of comfort, location and value. You're a few minutes' walk from the beachfront and town centre, which means easy access to bars, restaurants and a bit of nightlife if that's part of the plan. At the same time, you're close enough to the region's top courses that you can play a different track each day without spending hours on the road. For groups, societies or couples looking for a straightforward base with solid facilities and a prime Costa del Sol location, this does the job brilliantly for the price.

Great trip. Our hotel air con was non existent but couldn’t fault anything else.

Poor
2.0

This hotel was terrible, there was a disco with extremely loud music that vibrated the entire room until 5am every morning. Breakfast in the hotel was below average which was generally cold and staff were quite rude, where they were trying to clear the table before we were finished. Avoid, avoid , avoid !!!!

Hotel was very dated but as I’ve always said it’s just somewhere to sleep when on a golf trip we was B&B but the breakfast wasn’t great at all the hot food was cold every morning

Great location, needs a makeover, rooms are tired and old

Poor
2.0

Cold breakfast, terrible coffee, not a very nice restaurant. Threadbare carpets and smelly corridors. The view from the room was of a courtyard and tennis court with weeds growing out of it. Only good thing was the location on the sea front and close to the 3 golf courses we played. I have stayed in a lot of hotels around the world and this was the worst I have ever stayed in. Someone from YGT needs to go and have a look at this very poor hotel.

The hotel was fine it done exactly what we needed it to do for 8 lads on a golf holiday. It was in a great laoction right in the heart of things. The pool was closed during our stay which was disappointing.

Poor

The hotel was ok for group of golfers. But the breakfast was chaos and poorly organised the hot food side of it food was cold so after 1st day never eat in there again.
