An increasing number of golf resorts have recognised the need for non-golfers to be pampered while their partners are pounding the fairways. YourGolfTravel has a great list of good-value golf resorts with spas. Celtic Manor may not be the most attractive hotel to look at, but despite being the host of this year’s Ryder Cup it is almost as well known for its spa treatments as its three championship courses.
Further afield, Morocco’s new Mazagan Beach Resort, located around 60 miles from Casablanca, is a great bet for later summer sun. Situated on a four-mile stretch of sandy beach, it boasts boutiques, casino and a fine spa. The fact that it also has a Gary Player-designed golf course is almost secondary. Verdura, Rocco Forte’s new golf resort in south-west Sicily, offers a private beach, Michelin-star chef, watersports and two championship golf courses, designed by renowned Californian architect Kyle Phillips.
