1 Night, 2 Rounds
Hunley Golf Club sits on the North Yorkshire coast, right by Saltburn-by-the-Sea, and if you like your golf with a bit of fresh sea air and coastal views, you'll feel at home here. You've got 27 holes on site, views towards Boulby Cliffs and handy on-site accommodation, so it works brilliantly for a quick UK golf break without faffing about with taxis and check-in times.
The course has hosted the EuroPro Tour twice, in 2011 and 2012, which tells you it's more than just a pretty backdrop. The big win, though, is the three-nine set-up. Staying for a couple of nights? You can mix and match the nines and play a different 18-hole combination each day, which keeps things interesting for groups and societies who want variety without having to pack up and move hotels.
Off the course, there's a nine-bay driving range with Power Tee mats, so you can get plenty of reps in before your tee time, plus a clubhouse bar that shows live sport and serves food throughout the day. You're covered whether you're arriving early for a warm-up or settling in after your round. And with Saltburn a few minutes away and Whitby about half an hour by car, you've got proper seaside options for dinner, a post-golf pint or a wander along the front.
In short, Hunley is a solid all-in-one base for golfers who want variety on the course, easy logistics and a coastal setting that feels like a proper break.
Who is this for?
Golfers, couples and societies who want an on-site base with 27 holes, a driving range and a proper clubhouse, with Saltburn's pubs and seaside vibe close by.
Who is it best for?

he Morgan's Course is named after its designer, John Morgan and is the longest and most challenging course on Hunley's rotation. Tricky doglegs, plateau greens and fearsome water hazards are characteristic of a Morgan's layout, while the signature hole 'Snaiths' offers fantastic views over the entire golf course, North Yorkshire Coastline and Boulby Cliffs.

The Imperial Course is widely regarded as Hunley's most exciting layout and utilises the most difficult and most scorable holes on the golf course. It may also be the most spectacular as it affords unrivalled views across the North Yorkshire Coastline and Boulby Cliffs.
One of the most exciting holes is surely the 8th, named ‘Dicken's Dilemma', which is a short par-3 over a threatening water hazard.

The Jubilee Course is the easiest of Hunley's three layouts to make a score on but don't get complacent as any wayward shots will still get punished. The course has five par 5 holes, four of which are reachable for the big hitters and six par 3 holes. This is an enjoyable course layout and offers plenty of chances to pick up a few shots to par.

Hunley's on-site accommodation makes life easy for a golf break. You've got six en-suite bedrooms plus a self-catering lodge that sleeps up to six, so it suits couples, small groups and societies who want to stay right by the first tee.
The bedrooms are modern, comfortable and set up for a simple, golf-first stay, with en-suite bathrooms and high-speed internet. Wake up, grab breakfast, then you're only minutes from the course and practice facilities. If you're lucky with the weather, the coastal views towards Boulby Cliffs are a cracking bonus when you're planning your day or winding down after your round.
For groups who prefer a bit more space, the self-catering lodge is the pick. With a full kitchen and living area, it's ideal if you want to keep costs sensible, sort your own meals or sit together after golf and plan the next day's 18. It's particularly popular with societies or groups of friends who want to stay together, share a few beers after golf and have the freedom to do things at their own pace.
Food and drink are covered on site too. The clubhouse serves meals and lighter options throughout the day, the bar shows live sport and there's a good spread of drinks. It's a relaxed spot for the post-round review, especially if you can grab a seat outside and take in the course and coastline. The menu covers everything from breakfast and light bites to post-round meals, so you're sorted whether you want a quick sandwich before heading out or something more substantial after 36 holes.
If you do fancy heading out, Saltburn-by-the-Sea is just down the road for pubs, restaurants and a classic seaside stroll, with Whitby also within easy reach for a longer outing. The venue's location is one of its strengths. You've got a proper seaside town on your doorstep and the North York Moors close by, so there's plenty to do if you want to explore the coast or simply enjoy the atmosphere between rounds.
For golfers who want to stay on-site, keep things simple and have everything, course, accommodation, food and coastal scenery, within easy reach, Hunley delivers a straightforward package that works for couples, groups and societies alike.

2 rounds of golf, dinner, bed and breakfast - good value deal. Staff working hard - good sea views from our rooms. Hotel looks like recent refurbishment, clean, well equipped. Location worked well as I was coming down from Scotland and mate up from london. Saltburn was £7.50 in a taxi, few bars there which were fine. Enjoyed the course , hilly first few holes then levels off, rough was punishing but plenty of reachable par 5s bit of water and the greens were good nick. Driving range to warm up on which I needed.. Cooked breakfast better than dinner - for the price - good value.

A rather basic hotel, but comfortable. Food was perfect for a one night stay, limited menu but this may have been COVID related. Staff were really helpful.

Not many folk on the course so we got round quickly. The greens were in excellent condition considering that the two days previous were the wettest days of the year. Weather was good but if the wind got up it would be a different story with the course being on the coast. Shot 34pts both days.

Lovely to look at but tricky due to sloping fairways so need to watch direction very carefully. The course is a vrery good test and even a high handicapper like myself can do well if care is taken.

Interesting course due to the mix and match of different 9 holes on each day. Stunning views from the course. Challenging greens but not too difficult for a 32 handicap or too easy for a 14!
