Opened in 2007 the Players Course at Indian Wells offers a different test to the kinder, more forgiving Celebrity Course. Measuring 7,376 yards from the tips this course will test even the longest hitters and yet it remains playable for golfer of all skill levels thanks to a multitude of tee positions. John Fought orientated the course to provide golfers with breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape and the overall feel of the course is similar to that of classic American courses such as Riviera, Winged Foot and Alistair Mackenzie’s courses in Australia.
Although the Players Course is relatively young, Fought has managed to incorporate mature trees and other features that make the course seem mature beyond its years. Each hole is as good as the last and thanks to the intelligent routing of the course each hole seems almost totally secluded from the rest of the course which creates a dramatic atmosphere making each shot as exciting as possible.
