Golf is not a major sport in Turkey but tourism is helping to develop the number of courses and their quality too. There are a couple of courses close to the city of Istanbul, including the internationally-renowned Klassis Golf and Country Club, which is the only venue in the region with a hotel on site.
If you want to combine golf with a cultural break you couldn't find many better locations than this. This beguiling and bustling city has been overrun by three major empires - Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman - and all have left their mark. Bridging the gap between Europe and Asia, you can feel the influence of the Orient on one side of the mighty Bosphorus River and Europe on the other side, with a wonderful mix of different cultures all around you. The numerous city landmarks such as the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace and covered Bazaar are all unique and unforgettable.
