The Kasumigaseki Country Club, located on the island of Honshu, is a traditional golfing establishment that is home to two outstanding golf courses. The East is generally regarded to be the premier layout, and owes a degree of thanks to one of Britain's favourite architectural sons.

Upon the club's foundation, the original formulation of the East Course was the result of the plans penned by an enthusiastic local member, but his efforts were not well received. The upshot saw Charles Alison, partner of the great Harry S. Colt, commissioned to revise the course, and the results were outstanding.
The predominant characteristic of Alison's efforts is the bunkering; when the revision was complete, the East Course was protected by a collection of treacherously deep sand traps. The new character has lasted well into the 21st century, ensuring that Kasumigaseki remains one of the great Japanese golfing experiences.
