The course was designed by Robert von Hagge, a respected American architect, and is a dramatic stadium-style layout with many spectacular holes. Comprehensive facilities provide the perfect complement to the course, which is one of the most challenging in France.
The exhilarating layout is peppered with expanses of water, which infringe upon 12 of the holes, but the challenge does not end there; Les Bordes, has lightning-fast greens which are closely protected by enormous bunkers. The exacting par-72 can be stretched to 7,072 yards from the championship tees, and the difficulty has resulted in a modest course record of one under-par, posted by Jean van de Velde.
Without doubt one of the premier golfing experiences in continental Europe, Les Bordes is the destination for the golfing aficionado, and will stick in the mind for years to come.
Les Bordes is home to the largest putting green in Europe, where you can practice under the watchful gaze of a sculpted boar, created by the renowned Auguste Rodin.
