LOCH LOMOND GOLF CLUB
On the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond lies a golf course of monumental stature, one that vies with Sunningdale and Woodhall Spa for the honour of being the United Kingdom's greatest inland course. The local environment contains two Sites of Special Scientific Interest, such is the phenomenal beauty of the local surroundings.
Opened in 1993 to a fanfare of international publicity, Loch Lomond has not disappointed. The duo of Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf were creative masters of the stunning layout, and indeed Weiskopf regards Loch Lomond as his lasting legacy to the golfing world. This may be partly due to his near-death experience during the course's construction - Weiskopf collapsed whilst surveying the building work and regards himself lucky to be alive.
The cream of professional golf converges upon Loch Lomond for the Barclays Scottish Open, which has emerged as one of the most prominent dates on the European Tour calendar. Carved through the majestic woodland, and skirting the idyllic shores, Loch Lomond is a truly incredible, once-in-a-lifetime golfing experience.
