Opened in July 2006, Spey Valley will mature further still, and is being tipped for recognition among the top Scottish courses. The signature hole will undoubtedly be the par-5 fifth hole; measuring 641 yards, it is unlikely that even the longest out there will be having a go at the green. It is reasonable to view Spey Valley as a hidden Scottish Gem, but it seems unlikely that it will remain that way.
As you would expect from Dave Thomas, this is a ‘proper' golf course, and accompanied by the vivid purple heather and towering peaks of the Cairngorms National Park, it becomes a truly awesome place.

Just a note to say our golf trip last weekend was great including the weather. Thank you for your assistance and we will not hesitate to use you again. Best regards
I have just one word to say about the golf break, Incredible! The planning of this trip from the start to the finish was first class. The Old Course Hotel was one of the finest I have ever stayed in and our room faced number 1 Tee, what an incredible view! The weather was perfect, we got to play the Old Course and walk it like so many famous golfers of old what an experience!
The Dukes course was really tough and the Spey Valley course was beautiful and long! The Old Course Hotel is unmatched in its customer service, wow, do they make you feel at home and the food at all the restaurants was the best! Thanks again for letting an old Iowa boy accomplish one of his all time dreams of playing where our beloved sport began! Cheers!
The hotel was plush and very comfortable. The rooms were first class and in a great place, just behind the centre of the town. There are few superlatives that come close. The area is surrounded by the most spectacular scenery. The course itself was in fabulous condition, the fairways like carpet, the greens like snooker beize. The club runs a courtesy car down to the course, just a couple of minutes away. Really nice guys and happy to compliment the course. The course is laid out very well and the carefully positioned bunkers make for a challenging round. Great value break. The golf course is worth the money on its own but coupled with the great hotel, it was the best one nighter golf package I've ever been on.
