Integrated into the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort is the Wildfire Golf Club, where the two championship golf courses have quickly helped to establish it as one of Scottsdale's premier golf destinations.
Faldo Course
Nick Faldo's style is more akin to the links golf of the homelands, but he fused all his favourite influences to create a fascinating layout at the Wildfire club. The 6-time major champion was keen to depart slightly from the classical understanding of the desert golf around Scottsdale; the result is a superb par 71 track that stretches to 6,846 yards, and challenges every shot in the bag. While the requisite cacti and boulders are in evidence, the Faldo Course has been favourably compared to the sand belt layouts around Melbourne, Australia. A little different to the standard Scottsdale fare, the Faldo is well worth a visit.
Palmer Course
When designing his course at Wildfire, Arnold Palmer followed his belief that the best courses celebrate the pure enjoyment of the game. Although the course stretches to 7,170 from the tips, there are six separate sets of tee boxes, ensuring that the Palmer is suitable for every golfer. Under the shadow of the Camelback Mountain, this is simply one of the most enjoyable courses around Scottsdale, and comes highly recommended for your next golf escape to Arizona.
